Rendlesham, the home of TM Suffolk

Peace Palace

We teach Transcendental Meditation here in the village of Rendlesham where we have created a garden village development of 60 dwellings, a 30-bedroom residential facility ‘The Maharishi Peace Palace' used for TM Retreats, and a Maharishi Ayurveda Centre offering traditional Ayurveda consultations and treatments.

All the buildings are designed and constructed according to the principles of the most ancient system of Vedic architecture, Sthapatya Veda - ‘Maharishi Vastu' - realised in a modern context.

Vastu Tours of 'Maharishi Garden Village' can be arranged by appointment.

What is
Transcendental Meditation?

Transcendental Meditation is a simple technique practised 20 minutes twice a day while sitting comfortably.

It is not a religion, philosophy, or lifestyle. Over ten million people of all ages, cultures and religions have learned TM.

"Doing TM as a family results in a more harmonious and blissful home life. We have also noticed that all of us have become more adaptable and resilient in dealing with life's daily challenges. Practicing TM has definitely expanded our ability to be kinder, understanding and more patient with one another as well as to the people we interact with on a daily basis ..."

What happens when you meditate?

The TM technique allows your mind to easily settle inward, until you experience the most silent and peaceful level of your own awareness. It is completely different as it involves no concentrating or focusing, no trying to "empty the mind".

TM's Scientifically Proven Health Benefits

Hundreds of published research studies on the TM technique have documented its effectiveness on stress and anxiety, brain function, cardiovascular health and more.

  • TM is the only meditation practice that has been shown to reduce blood pressure…all other meditation techniques, including Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction are not recommended in clinical practice to lower blood pressure.

  • Perhaps its greatest benefit is that it's relatively quick to learn and easy to master. No waiting weeks or months of practice before you see results"

  • According to both the Australian CSIRO and American Heart Association (AHA), the TM technique is the only meditation technique that has been shown to effectively reduce high blood pressure.

  • A 2009 study found Transcendental Meditation helped alleviate stress in college students, while another found it helped reduce blood pressure, anxiety, depression and anger.

How is Transcendental Meditation different
from other meditations?

Compared to other meditations TM is different in two ways.

1. Absolutely effortless

  • No concentrating
  • No control of the mind
  • No mindfulness (monitoring of thoughts)
  • No trying to "empty the mind"
  • Anyone can do it, even children with ADHD

2. Proven effective

TM has been proven effective for stress and anxiety, clarity of mind, and more.

One-time payment

It is an inescapable fact that in this country there is a huge variation in people's ability to pay.

In recognition of this, the Trustees of Maharishi Foundation, the charity that teaches TM in the UK, have developed a scale of fees based on gross income.

In this way people on higher incomes pay more and those on lower incomes pay less. We do not ask to see payslips or anything, but simply rely on your integrity.

If you have any questions about the appropriate fee for you, your teacher will be happy to discuss this with you.

Course fees:

Concession (for those on universal credit, state pension only or similar or full-time students with NUS card or similar) - £295

Income under £25,000 - £395

Income over £25,000 - £525

Income over £40,000 - £625

Income over £60,000 - £725

VIP and private instructions - £1,450

School children - £195.

Under 10 yrs old - 25% of main parent's fee.

There are special rates for families

If you are on a higher income and would like to make an extra donation this helps to support those on lower incomes

TM is always taught over a four consecutive day course of about 1 1/2 hours each day.

The first day is always personal instruction with your accredited TM Teacher.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th day follow up meetings can continue in-person or you can choose to complete your course with a home-learning option. This can be customised to your personal work/life demands, or because of the distance you live from our TM Centre and means you can mix and match home and in-person learning depending on your circumstances.

The home-learning option is conducted with the aid of online meetings and a digital course.

Your personal TM Teacher checks in with you for a brief meeting each day on Zoom without requiring you to be in-person for all four instructional sessions of the course. This flexible approach to learning TM has proved very popular.

If you prefer to do your course all in-person but do not live locally, self-contained B&B is usually available – please ask. Bring your own transport and you can also enjoy this beautiful area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB).

Whether you complete your course fully in-person or partially at home, all our courses offer a 6 month follow up programme of support and guidance.
