'Ringo Starr: GQ UK's Humanitarian of the year'

Ringo Starr's work with the David Lynch Foundation (DLF) earned him the DLF Peace and Love award earlier this year and now he has also achieved the accolade of GQ UK's Humanitarian of the year. Starr supports the work of the DLF using TM in education. The  DLF aids abused children and veterans with post-traumatic stress by teaching them Transcendental Meditation to work through their problems. Ringo Starr's enthusiasm and dedication for Transcendental Meditation stemmed from his travels with The Beatles to India to visit Maharishi Mahesh Yogi back in 1968.

Commenting on his GQ UK award, Ringo says, "I truly believe in the David Lynch Foundation. They started to bring meditation (TM) into inner-city schools and now it's a fact that in those schools and neighbourhoods violence has gone down. Meditation brings people back to being human again."

Ringo Starr is also the face of the designer John Varvatos’s Autumn/Winter 2014 campaign. All of the profits will feed back into David Lynch's philanthropic organisation.
