Natural treatment for high blood pressure

Published research shows Transcendental Meditation helps:

  • Reduce high blood pressure
  • Reduce need for antihypertensive medication
  • Reduce constriction of blood vessels
  • Reduce thickening of coronary arteries
  • Reduce mortality rates due to heart disease

Now the American Heart Association recommends that doctors consider Transcendental Meditation in the treatment of high blood pressure.

The British Heart Foundation estimates that one quarter of the adult population of the UK have high blood pressure. It is a major risk factor for heart disease - the major source of mortality in the UK, which costs the taxpayer billions of pounds every year.

The US National Institutes of Health have granted over $20 million to study the effects of Transcendental Meditation in preventing and treating heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke.

How long before TM practice lowers blood pressure?

The benefits can be immediate, but since every person is different it is not possible to predict exactly how soon blood pressure will drop. In most cases, the research has shown that within 1-2 months there is a significant drop in blood pressure if it has been too high.

How does Transcendental Meditation affect the heart?

"The Transcendental Meditation technique, even though it is a mental technique, brings about a unique neurophysiological state. Those changes in the physiology lead to a drop in cholesterol and a drop in blood pressure. When you lower your blood pressure and your cholesterol, you decrease your risk of atherosclerosis. Studies have shown that patients with coronary heart disease who practise the Transcendental Meditation technique have less angina. I believe that there's no better medicine than TM." - Cesar Molina, MD (pictured left)
