How does Transcendental Meditation (TM) work towards enlightenment?

The goal of the Transcendental Meditation technique is the state of enlightenment. Transcendental Meditation allows the nervous system to access a special quality of rest that is uniquely different from ordinary rest and relaxation - and in some ways deeper than sleep.

This rest has been called a fourth state of consciousness – complementary to the waking, dreaming and sleep states. This Transcendental consciousness is the essence of wisdom, insight and self-realisation - enlightenment.

 

Transcendental Meditation unfolds the inner Creative Intelligence of everyone, by providing direct experience of the field of pure Creative Intelligence at the source of thought—Transcendental Consciousness.

Transcendental Meditation enlivens total brain functioning: Research studies using the electroencephalogram (EEG) have shown that during Transcendental Meditation, when the individual experiences a deeply settled and silent state of Transcendental Consciousness, coherence begins to increase throughout the entire brain simultaneously.

Clearer experiences of Consciousness

High levels of EEG coherence measured during Transcendental Meditation are significantly correlated with higher creativity, greater efficiency in learning new concepts, more principled moral reasoning, higher verbal intelligence (IQ), less neuroticism, higher academic achievement, clearer experiences of Transcendental Consciousness.

Holistic Improvement in Intellectual Performance
through TM

The results of the research indicate only beneficial effects: an increase in attention-gathering ability, higher intelligence, higher grades, mind-clarity, increased creativity and self-esteem.

The principle of TM:
no difficulties in life

This great principle is: do less and accomplish more. So success is not gained through hard work: success is gained by having the infinite organizing power of natural law in our favor. TM brings the favor of natural law—brings the creativity of natural law, which governs the whole universe in perfect order—so that everything becomes very easy for meditators to achieve.

Transcending is the basis of enlightenment

Transcending is a natural and universal experience, known to all cultures, however, it occurs rarely and usually by chance. TM provides a systematic method to Transcend that anyone can practise.

Quantum Field Theory has established that there is one unified field upon which the law of natural creativity is founded. By Transcending, one reaches a level of intelligence, which is all-knowingness. One spontaneously begins to think better in every way— better meaning right for everyone, useful for everyone, and quickly achieving desires. This is enlightenment.

People want to learn TM for reasons which may be difficult to put into words: for self-knowledge, self-awareness, inner peace, spiritual development and enlightenment. All these are equally valid reasons for learning, and are, in a sense, exactly what TM provides.

With regular TM practise, the peacefulness and bliss of the inner experience is naturally integrated into daily living leading to an enlightened life with a fully developed heart, mind and soul.

Register for an online info session

The first step is to attend a free introductory talk or "Info Session".
This will be presented by a certified teacher of Transcendental Meditation and generally takes about 1 hour. You will find out:

  • Why TM is so effective for stress and anxiety
  • Why anyone can practise TM
  • What benefits you can realistically expect
  • How it works – the process of transcending
  • How TM differs from other meditations
  • What happens during TM

Following the talk there will be an opportunity to meet privately with the Teacher to discuss personal considerations.

The talk is a prerequisite to joining a course of instruction in TM, but there is no commitment to learn. It is open to everyone even if you only have a mild curiosity! Feel free to bring a friend.
