Clint Eastwood, Russell Brand and David Lynch Join Meditation Project

Clint Eastwood, Russell Brand and David Lynch are to launch a new initiative to teach 10,000 veterans and their families a simple meditation practice for preventing and treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), reported USA Today on 9 December 2010.

The launch of Operation Warrior Wellness project will take place at this year's Change Begins Within event in New York on Monday 13th December.  A press conference will highlight the research and applications of Transcendental Meditation for PTSD; and meditating veterans from World War II, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan will report on how the TM technique has aided their recovery.

Later the group will be joined by Katy Perry, Martin Scorsese, Russell Simmons, Donna Karan, George Lucas and other luminaries for an evening dinner event to benefit the David Lynch Foundation.

An estimated 30 to 35 percent of the 1.64 million US troops deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq since October 2001 may have PTSD, according to the Foundation.

Watch a replay of the conference.
